Christmas Inspiration 2012 - Yes, It's Not That Far Away

Yesterday was a busy day, first I battled the wind to do my weekly shop at La Cigale market. I usually always follow this with a latte and almond croissant at the market, but this week after over indulging at my sons 30th I decided to sacrifice the almond croissant and pop over to the monthly antiques fair in Avondale. On my way home I called by Corsa di Fiori looking for summer cushions for my living room and again had to battle the wind from my car to their front entrance. When I entered the shop I was surprised to see the normally overstocked shop looking far more sparse, I think the salesman saw my look of surprise and said, "oh were making room for Christmas"... "Christmas! I thought to myself, but it's only October, it's almost three months away". I then realised that 3 months is not long at all, and before we know it we will be making our Christmas cakes and rushing around doing last minute shopping. I have absolutely no idea where this year has gone and wonder if you  feel the same or is it just me?

This week I've been so busy with mum's house that I haven't had time to put my usual "Inspiration from the blogasphere" post together, and as I'm now thinking about Christmas I've been wondering how I might decorate my Christmas table. This year will be my first Christmas without my mum so I've decided not to overdo my table, there will be just my boys and my mums friend and her son. I'm not sure I will feel its a time to celebrate so I'm going to keep it simple and not use traditional Christmas decorations on the table, I'm therefore, finding this years inspiration from some wedding decor below and hope you find some inspiration too...

Pretty and romantic, and I do love gold...

You can't go wrong with white...

Or what about a little colour....

Last year my Christmas was mauve and silver, this year? If your looking for more Christmas inspiration check out my Pinterest Boards below

    1. Thank you for your comment Lorraine, I am coping a lot better but still miss my mum terribly and the blog is a bit neglected right now but hope to get into some sort of normal routine by next year.

  2. so beautiful ideas for decorating tables when we need to impress or to create an unforgetable moment! I really love the golden style. Have you seen the last casegoods by BRABBU? I simply adore the Koi table. The gold color seems to be the next trend!

    1. Thank you Angela, yes gold seems to be in trend. My mum has a gold covered velvet and cane suite, I have been wondering what cushions to use on it when the house is ready to sell. I have seen a lot of gold and grey which can look stunning so am looking along this idea.

    2. I am sorry for the delay in your comment going up on the blog Angela, it somehow ended up in my spam mail, which I was checking today and found two of my reader's comments :(. Anyway up and running now :). I will have to check out the Brabbu goods. Gold is a great colour but not when you are stuck with a Queen Anne Suite in gold embossed velvet which is what my mum had and I have to somehow style the room to appear modern when I put her house on the market. I am looking at cushions in grey tones as I think this can work with gold.

  5. Oh goodness, that's scarey! We have a lots of birthdays in the last quarter of the year, but I must start putting some Christmas presents aside too. I absolutely love that first photo - the gold and pink, and those cute little animals! We are having Christmas at our lake house this year, so it will be very relaxed, I'm really looking forward to it - not too much fuss. x

    1. I accidentally pressed the wrong box, this was meant to be a reply to your comment Vic, but ended up below as a separate one...duh me!

Wow a lake house, I am sure you will have a wonderful Christmas in such a lovely setting. Christmas is so much about family I realise now and you can fuss around that everything is perfect and on the day no one really cares, they just enjoy opening their presents and being with family...I still like to make the table look nice nevertheless even if we are few and far between this Christmas at my home.
